Plate heat exchangers

Plate heat exchangers are made up of a package of profiled plates with inlet and outlet holes. The plates are offset in relation to each other at a 180° angle, creating flow channels on each side of the plates. Each plate is fitted with gaskets that reliably seal the flow channels to the outside and keep the two media involved in the exchange separate.

Gasketed plate heat exchangersAlways the right plate for your application

Gasketed plate heat exchangers consist of a stack of individual, stamped heat transfer plates and gaskets. The plate package is mounted in a frame with clamping bolts between a fixed plate and a pressure plate and pressure is applied to it uniformly. It can be removed for cleaning and maintenance. Furthermore, it is possible to add more plates at a later date to achieve a higher capacity.

There are several sizes with varying numbers of plates and different stamp designs available to cover a large capacity range. In this way they can cater for heavily contaminated or high viscosity fluids, or even if the temperature difference between the hot and cold medium is only minimal. Depending on the application area, special plate designs are available made from higher-quality materials, such as titanium plates for use in seawater applications.

Advantages of gasketed plate heat exchangers

  • High thermal capacity thanks to OptiFlow, Bypass Stop system and Best Wave system
  • Lower investment costs thanks to compact design
  • Service and maintenance-friendly thanks to high-efficiency self-cleaning resulting from turbulent flow, visual gasket identification and the use of clip-on gaskets

Brazed plate heat exchangersThe universal solution for industrial applications and building technology

Brazed plate heat exchangers are made up of stamped stainless steel plates that are brazed in a vacuum process to form a pressure-resistant unit, in copper or nickel depending on the requirements of the application. They can therefore be operated at high pressures and temperatures and they have a compact design.

Advantages of brazed plate heat exchangers

  • High thermal capacity: diagonal media routing and turbulators in the flow gaps.
  • Highly resilient thanks to seam brazing rather than spot brazing
  • Compact design also suitable for high-viscosity media because of high heat transfer
  • Direct connection to the power unit without any additional holders thanks to elongated end plate

Series of brazed plate heat exchangers

TPL

Areas of application
Primarily in hydraulics, compressed air, motor cooling and heat recovery. Universal use with various media. Extremely high heat transfer capacity thanks to diagonal media routing and special turbulence installations in the flow gaps. For media with higher viscosities, the high heat transfer enables small sizes that take up less space.

Technical data

  • Heat exchange surface/plate: 0.035–0.286 m²
  • Max. operating pressure: 36 bar
  • Max. operating temperatures: +200°C

GPL / GPLK / NPL / NPLK

Areas of application
Primarily used in heating, air-conditioning, ventilation, motor cooling and heat recovery. Universal use with various media.

Technical data

  • Max. operating pressure: 16–30 bar
  • Max. operating temperature: +200°C
  • GPL / GPLK: plates brazed with copper
  • NPL / NPLK: plates brazed with nickel

Available as safety heat exchanger with double wall.
